University “St. Cyril and Methodius” (UKIM), in collaboration with the O2 coalition, pulse.eco, and the Ecoinformatics Laboratory at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI), successfully organized the second pollution sensor workshop as part of the CleanBreathe project. The workshop was oragnized on 10^th of May 2023 in the premisis of FINKI. This workshop finished a significant milestone in the international CleanBreathe project as one of the focuses of the project is acquiring and deploying pollution sensors across the city of Skopje, larger area.

The workshop brought together experts and innovators in the field of air quality monitoring, including representatives from the O2 coalition and pulse.eco. Their presentations examined the implications of pollution on public health and the environment. In addition the workshop was graced by the presence of representatives from FINKI – UKIM and the Ecoinformatics Laboratory at FINKI. Their inclusion in the workshop was crucial for sharing their research findings and academic advancements in the field of pollution monitoring and sensor technologies.

The second workshop hosted a total of 10 attendees who were trained and equipped with the knowledge necessary for assembling and installing air pollution sensors kits. Participants were introduced to the fundamental concepts and techniques for sensor installation, configuration, and data transmission via the Internet. With hands-on exercises and practical demonstrations, the participants gained valuable insights into the intricacies of sensor deployment and data collection.

The training sessions were conducted by seasoned professionals from the collaborating organizations, who shared their expertise and provided comprehensive guidance to the attendees. The participants had the opportunity to learn about the various types of pollution sensors available in the market, their features, and the best practices for their implementation.

One of the highlights of the workshop was the live demonstration of the pollution sensors in action by comparing it to a much more expensive and reliable sensor in the FINKI Ecoinformatics laboratory. The assembled sensors are intended to be connected to a centralized system that allowed real-time monitoring of pollution levels.

The successful completion of the second pollution sensor workshop marks a significant step forward in the CleanBreathe project. It not only equipped the participants with the necessary skills to implement pollution monitoring systems but also facilitated valuable networking opportunities among industry experts, researchers, and academia.
